Our most recent acquisition is a 5.9m Swift inflatable RIB powered by a 150hp Mercury. This is the boat we use if we need to search shorelines and creeks.

Our third vessel is a 4.59m Stabicraft which is only occasionally used  for training and inshore work. The vessel really came into it's own during the 2011 floods far upstream in the Brisbane River. The Stabi is powered by a 60hp Yamaha four-stroke outboard.

VMR Brisbane currently operates three purpose-built rescue vessels. All vessels are fitted with all the required safety equipment such as radios, EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons), along with additional equipment necessary for Search and Rescue operations in our area such as radar, AIS (Automatic Identification Systems) and FLIR (Forward Looking Infrared Radiometer).

Our primary rescue vessel is a 8.3 metre Kevlacat 3000 which is powered by twin 250hp Mercury four-stroke outboards. Besides the standard equipment fitted, Energex 1 is fitted with FLIR to help find sources of heat in the water faster. We are soon to fit AIS so if you are on the water and have AIS yourself, you will know how far away help is if the need arises.
